What Is Respite Care?

Respite care provides short‑term, temporary support for individuals so primary caregivers can take a break. Our respite services ensure that individuals receive consistent care while caregivers rest, attend appointments, or manage personal responsibilities.

What is the program

Respite4kids program provides short‑term, planned, or emergency support for individuals who need assistance with daily living so their primary caregivers can take time to rest, recharge, and manage personal responsibilities. The program offers reliable care delivered by trained staff who are chosen by the guardian.

The program is designed to:

  • Give caregivers a break while ensuring their loved one continues to receive high‑quality support.
  • Offer flexible scheduling for a minimum of 4 hours a day.
  • Give caregivers a chance to relieve stress, renew their energy and promote balance in their daily lives.
  • Support long‑term caregiver sustainability, reducing stress and preventing burnout.

Who We Serve

Respite4kids provides respite services to youths who are enrolled in the OhioRISE program up to 20 years old.

What Families and Providers Are Saying

It Helps My Child Feel Special
Its been wonderful to be able to get respite so I can spend more 1 on 1 time with my other children. It also helps my child feel special getting to visit places he wouldn’t have otherwise been able to visit.

Life Altering for a Single Mom
Receiving respite services as a single mom of 2 special needs kids has been life altering. I initially felt guilty, but now I recognize the decompression it has given to be able to go to the store, run errands, attend meetings, or get jobs done around the home.
